Built for process
Process trap with integrated strainer and nozzle access without removing the assembly from the pipework.
No moving parts
Works on a hydrodynamic principle with sized venturis. There is no disc, float or bimetal to wear out.
Integrated strainer
High integrity CF8M cast strainer with reinforced 40 mesh screen.
Direct nozzle access
The body sits between the strainer and the downstream connector, so the nozzle is reached without removing the assembly.
Full load range
Works from minimum to maximum process load.
Shell and tube heat exchangers
Condensate discharge from the steam side under variable load.
Air heaters
Steam coils and batteries heating process air.
Calorifiers and reboilers
Process equipment with variable steam demand.
Cooking vessels
Jacketed vessels with heating cycles.

Frequently asked questions
What maintenance and engineering teams ask us most about the IVP trap.
What applications is the Fenix IVP steam trap designed for?
Process applications such as shell and tube heat exchangers, air heaters, calorifiers and cooking vessels, from minimum to maximum process load.
What is the difference between IVP-SC, IVP-SW?
It is the same IVP trap with two connections. The IVP-SC is screwed (NPT or BSP) with a recommended 40 barg PMO; the IVP-SW is socket weld with 100 barg PMO up to 450 °C.
What is the maximum operating pressure of the IVP?
IVP-SC: 580 psig (40 barg) (recommended). IVP-SW: 1,450 psig (100 barg) at 842 °F.
What sizes and connections does the IVP come in?
¾" (DN20), 1" (DN25). Connections: NPT or BSP thread; Socket weld.
How is the IVP maintained?
The trap body sits between the strainer and the downstream connector, so the nozzle is reached without removing the assembly from the pipework. The optional drain valve makes strainer cleaning easy (recommended up to 20 barg).
What warranty does the Fenix IVP trap have?
The Fenix IVP trap has a 15-year warranty. Its strainer, designed and made by Fenix, is also guaranteed for 15 years.
Why does the trap strainer matter?
Particles carried by the steam, such as rust, weld slag and scale, can block the nozzle. A robust, efficient strainer keeps the trap working properly. That is why Fenix designed and makes its own strainer and guarantees it for 15 years.
What is the drain valve for?
It is an optional accessory that allows easy strainer cleaning. When opened, line pressure blows out the sediment held in the screen without opening the cap. It is recommended for traps operating at no more than 20 barg.
What spare parts are available for the IVP?
Strainer filter (F-L), Connector flange gasket (G-8), Cap gasket (G-4), Nozzle gasket (G-3).
Fenix strainer, designed and made by Fenix
A trap only works well if the condensate reaching it is clean. That is why Fenix designed and makes its own strainer, and guarantees it for 15 years, the same as the trap.
Protects the nozzle and venturis
Rust, weld slag and scale carried by the steam are among the most common causes of trap failure. The strainer holds them back before they reach the nozzle.
Robust by design
High integrity strainer: CF8M cast body and 40 mesh stainless steel screen with 10 mesh reinforcement. 304L stainless steel cap.
Cleaning without removing the trap
The screen comes out through its cap; the trap body stays installed in the line.
Optional drain valve
An accessory that allows easy strainer cleaning: when opened, line pressure blows out the sediment held in the screen without opening the cap. Recommended for traps operating at no more than 20 barg.
Trap and strainer from one maker
Both are designed and made by Fenix, and both carry a 15-year warranty. No generic third-party strainer.
