Built for low flow
The same EF trap for drainage and tracing, with a screwed, socket weld or flanged connection to suit the line.
No moving parts
Works on a hydrodynamic principle with sized venturis. There is no disc, float or bimetal to wear out.
Direct replacement
Face-to-face dimensions similar to thermodynamic traps, which makes replacement in existing installations easier.
In-line maintenance
Integral 60 mesh strainer and removable nozzle. The body stays installed during maintenance.
High design pressure
CF8M stainless steel body with 100 barg PMA, hydraulic cold tested to 150 barg.
Steam line drainage
Drip legs on headers and distribution lines, where condensate arrives at low, continuous flow rates.
Steam tracing
Steam tracers on process lines, instruments and tanks that must be kept at temperature.
Compare the connections
The versions share the design and main components. The connection changes, and with it the operating limits.

Frequently asked questions
What maintenance and engineering teams ask us most about the EF trap.
What applications is the Fenix EF steam trap designed for?
Low condensate flow applications such as steam line drainage and steam tracing of pipes, instruments and tanks.
What is the difference between EF-SC, EF-SW, EF-FL?
It is the same EF trap with three connections. The EF-SC is screwed (NPT or BSP), the EF-SW is socket weld for higher pressure and temperature, and the EF-FL is flanged (ANSI or PN) in a standard or custom length. The connection sets the operating limits.
What is the maximum operating pressure of the EF?
EF-SC: 580 psig (40 barg) (recommended). EF-SW: 1,450 psig (100 barg) at 842 °F. EF-FL: depends on the flange rating, from PN16 or ANSI 150 up to PN100 or ANSI 1500.
What sizes and connections does the EF come in?
½" (DN15), ¾" (DN20). Connections: NPT or BSP thread; Socket weld; ANSI or PN flanges.
How is the EF maintained?
The integral strainer and the nozzle come out through their caps while the body stays installed. On the EF-SC and EF-FL, the optional drain valve allows periodic strainer cleaning.
Can the EF trap replace a thermodynamic trap?
Yes. The EF-SC has face-to-face dimensions similar to thermodynamic traps, the most common type in drainage and tracing, which makes replacement easier.
Can the EF-FL be made in a special length?
Yes. The standard face-to-face length is 175 mm (6.89"). Custom lengths range from 145 mm to 500 mm (20").
What warranty does the Fenix EF trap have?
The Fenix EF trap has a 15-year warranty. Its strainer, designed and made by Fenix, is also guaranteed for 15 years.
Why does the trap strainer matter?
Particles carried by the steam, such as rust, weld slag and scale, can block the nozzle. A robust, efficient strainer keeps the trap working properly. That is why Fenix designed and makes its own strainer and guarantees it for 15 years.
What is the drain valve for?
It is an optional accessory that allows easy strainer cleaning. When opened, line pressure blows out the sediment held in the screen without opening the cap. It is recommended for traps operating at no more than 20 barg.
What spare parts are available for the EF?
Strainer filter (F-S), Cap gasket (G-4), Nozzle gasket (G-1).
Fenix strainer, designed and made by Fenix
A trap only works well if the condensate reaching it is clean. That is why Fenix designed and makes its own strainer, and guarantees it for 15 years, the same as the trap.
Protects the nozzle and venturis
Rust, weld slag and scale carried by the steam are among the most common causes of trap failure. The strainer holds them back before they reach the nozzle.
Robust by design
60 mesh stainless steel screen housed in the CF8M cast body, with a 304L stainless steel strainer cap.
Cleaning without removing the trap
The screen comes out through its cap; the trap body stays installed in the line.
Optional drain valve
An accessory that allows easy strainer cleaning: when opened, line pressure blows out the sediment held in the screen without opening the cap. Recommended for traps operating at no more than 20 barg.
Trap and strainer from one maker
Both are designed and made by Fenix, and both carry a 15-year warranty. No generic third-party strainer.
